Skye flew back to the nest, for by now the chicks settled down. She saw a large foot along with three talons coming towards her. She began to slowly close the hole again, giving the hawk time to pull out. She strained to do this, and she had never done it before, but she could just not try.

As she was reaching for the hummingbirds, the branches once again shifted, and Faith slightly backed away. She hopped up a branch, and looked down where the nest was, trying to figure out why the tree just kept moving, and was staying quiet doing so. Suddenly she heard a low rumble, which quickly got louder, but then stopped. Confused, she looked around, almost forgetting about the smaller birds, as she tried to figure out what it was.

Little earthquakes begin striking around the forest, and only actually hit the outer edges of the forest and desert. No extreme damage was done, yet.

Skye felt safer now that the tree was closing up, but rumbling and shaking occurred, and threw her faith off balance. She panicked, and flew to her chicks, nuzzling them and silently crying. She didn't know what was happening, and she knew it couldn't be good.

As the rumbling came to a stop, suddenly the forest became even darker, and then it started pouring rain. It was so bad, some areas were starting to flood already.

Faith was about to try getting the hummingbirds again, when it suddenly just started pouring out of no where. Even though she was in a tree, she felt her feathers beginning to soak. Panicked, she flew off, abandoning the little birds. She'd find more food, right now she just needed shelter. Faith found a little outcrop which was near the ground, but also on a hill, surrounded by trees. She wen't inside to find it wasn't as wet, but it still was. She finally tried calming herself. It's only a storm. It happens all the time. How could this one be any worse? she asked herself, looking outside. But at the rate the rain was falling, she was pretty sure the outcrop she was in would be flooded by night time.. She looked up, then realizing she couldn't even tell if it was day or night. All she saw was the hard falling of rain or overhanging branches.

As Skye heard no more rumbling, the tree's shaking rate lowered. She could hear the sound of pouring rain, and felt scared. The rain was raining too hard for her to even set wing outside. She would be pounded to the ground and drowned in the flooded ground. She peeked outside of a tine bit of the hole, and saw that huge puddles had already formed.
The hummingbird looked at her hungry chicks and sighed. This time, she might not succeed. She laid on top of them once more, and kept them warm, believing she was already dead.
How could I be this scared? she asked herself. Her head said it was a storm, but her instincts said otherwise. It was a death sentence.

The rain continues to get worse, and once again the rumbling starts. Not far away in the forest, you can hear trees falling to the ground, along with a splash from the flood water gathering below them.

Askele swerved through the trees, her eyes narrowed against the rain. The water was already up to her knees and elbows, and she had to get to dry land. Her night-vision served her well, and amongst the chaos, she sniffs out the faint scent of a hummingbird. Askele wrinkled her nose, and out of curiosity she started towards the scent. Her fur was soaked and stuck to her skin, but she'd seen ore than enough of rainy days in her life, so she tried not to think about it.

Skye subbed over her chicks. This was the end of them. The rain had gotten worse and trees could be herd tumbling to the ground not far away. Sky knew she would have to fly out of the tree and into the rain if she were to survive. What is worse, she will have to drag out her nest as well. Not even the trees could help her, as they fell down, never to arise again.
Determined, she grasped the nest, widened the hole which kept her from the hawk, and flew with the wind into the hard rain the could very well take her down with it. She stared down into the flooded forest and everything froze. She went down.

Askele's ears pricked, and she spotted a hummingbird dragging her nest. What was the little fella thinking? She leaped forward and stood under the falling hummingbird and her nest, hoping they'd fall safely onto her back.
