Re: Forest survival
"I'm Sand." Sand replied. "The food store is in the tunnel at the bottom. It has seeds, acorns... Loads!"

Re: Forest survival
Scuttle's ears rose with interest, and even as she started hurrying to where Sand had pointed out, she stopped abruptly, perplexed. "What does a mouse want with acorns?"

Re: Forest survival
Sand shrugged. "I don't know really. I was immature when I collected them, thinking a mouse could eat them." and she laughed a bit.

Re: Forest survival
Blue watched everything from here tree perch. She saw a red fox, one she considered a friend, fail at catching a mouse. She watched some deer graze through the underbrush. Blue climbed down cautiously and began to look around. After a minute or two she began her daily hunting, heading to a tree where she knew robins were nesting. Blue climbed up, then was so occupied she didn't notice a huge eagle flying at her. She felt huge talons grab her tail, and she instinctively clung to the branch. The eagle tugged at her tail, but only managed to tear out some fluff. Blue fled to her tree hollow and didn't come out for the rest of the day.

"Oh, well then..." Scuttle toed closer to the stash. "I suppose I'll take a few off your hands for you, then!" She hastily ran in, grabbed an acorn, and, after nibbling at it, explained as she came back, "Seeing as you have no use for them, and all." Scuttle took another bite.

"Have all the acorns you want!" grinned Sand. "Like you said, I have no use for them at all."

Re: Forest survival
"Yum!" was Scuttle's answer, and she finished the acorn she was holding. She remembered something. "Hey, Sand, can I stay at your place for the day? Because I wanna get out in the evening." Scuttle brushed her paw over her fuzzy, notably dark-furred tail lightly before flicking it back. "Y'know. It happens to actually be better for me to roam about at night. Unfortunately." Most predators were nocturnal. Most prey got snapped up at night.

Re: Forest survival
Sand paused for a couple of minutes, thinking. "Ok!" she replied happily. ((I won't post for a while because I need to sleep and go to school and stuff. But I will post at sometime tomorrow!))

Re: Forest survival
The couple minutes Sand took to consider seemed ages to Scuttle. After half a minute she was restless. She started rolling on her feet. She then bounced in place to pass the next minute. The last minute was spent nervously clutching onto her tail until Sand finally gave her reply.
'Okay.'
YES! she screamed in her head.
"YES! Thank you thank you sooo much!" Scuttle was relieved. She then sat back onto her bottom, looking around the den. After a short while, she commented, "Nice place you got here."
((No problem. RL is life, and a game is a game.
I was happy to roleplay as often as I got to - and I know you're comin back. ^_^))

Re: Forest survival
Sand looked down out of embarrasment. "Thanks..." she squeaked, quietly. Then she perked her ears up. "I hear a snake! In this burrow!"

Re: Forest survival
Blue was back in her apple tree. It had been a fairly disappointing day, no fresh food and all. She climbed down to a lower branch to see what was going on. A snake had just slithered into a burrow. Blue decided to get a closer look, so she got down and peered in. She would normally be more cautious, but she was hungry and there might be a meal at the end of the tunnel. Blue stuck her paw in and felt the snake, which she clawed and tried to pull out. She also heard the noises of a terrified mouse, and... squirrel? Odd, thought Blue, but there were snakes to be eaten so she just focused back on her work.

Re: Forest survival
"WHAT?!" screeched Scuttle. Well, sharply squeaked. She's a squirrel. "Ugh! Ugh! Snakes. To the end of the tunnel! We gotta dig ourselves out! Immediately! Wait! Do you have any escape tunnels?!" Panic panic. A cornered animal's first resort.

Re: Forest survival
Sand nodded nervously. "Well, there was... Some stupid animal today blocked it up with soil-So we'll have to dig ourselves unless you want to comit suicide!" Sand started to dig a kind of hill leading to the fresh air above.

Re: Forest survival
"Eeck!" Scuttle gulped, and started rapidly, frantically scratching at the hole Sand had started.
She wasn't a bad digger - after all, she had to bury those countless acorns with her family so that nobody would ever find them again (y'know, maybe that was why they went hungry every year, event though they thought themselves so well prepared...) somehow! It was just that, y'know, a WHOLE TUNNEL is a lot! In a few seconds the hole was only a couple inches deeper. "We're going too slowly!" Scuttle worried.

Re: Forest survival
"Ugh, it got away," Blue let the snake back down the mouse hole. She walked around a bit until she noticed another hole appear from the ground. She peered in and saw a mouse and squirrel rushing out of it, closely followed by the snake. Blue was too startled to catch any of them, and just squeaked in surprise. She watched them get away, and the snake started settling down into it's conquered home.
