Ever heard of this awesome reincarnation of Spore? Thrive is what Spore could've been. It's still in the making, but the project has gone pretty far. There are even three game modes: Organism where you control a species, Bob where you control everything, and Strategy where you control a civilization. Thrive strives to be as realistic as possible.
Anyway, heres a link to the forum:

I LOVE Spore, so I'll probably love this... When it comes out, do you have to download it?

I looked at the FAQ. One of the questions said:
Can I play as a tree?
Yes, but your gameplay would be quite limited.
And you can even live underwater! I AM SO getting this!

No problem. Though I'm not actually part of the development, I can say that it will be a few years until it's playable. Also, anyone can sign up on the forum to make suggestions. Also, yes, you'll probably have to download it.

Oooo, awesome! You now, I love Spore, but was deeply disappointed by it...it turned out far more cartoony then originally anticipated.
