wont take pictures

I hit the prt scr button on my laptop, go to paint and try to paste what I took a picture of, but It doesn't show I took anything. How so I do this?
Some computers have you press different things. Try fn and prtsc together, prtsc by itself, or even f1.
Make sure to NOT copy anything before pasting in paint, since it overrides your screenshot.
