Omega dropped the deformed baby. Alpha groaned and called out: "Come on Omega. We can try again in a week.". Omega nodded and tried to get the male raptor off.

Soro jumped off and ran inside, to his three chicks and mate who lay there in fear. "We're fine, now, we're fine." He muttered nuzzling into them.

Rip shook her head. Only three of her babies were left. "This can't just be bad luck. It's the third time I've been attacked by large predators," she said slowly. She nuzzle the three remaining chicks and tried to comfort them.

Soro waited for a while, then looked out. Nothing. "I'm going to find some food, stay here." He called back and hurried out of the den. He panned only to find some small rodents, as he'd need Rip or hunting larger things. He did find a rodent, about to eat the last egg in a nest. He quickly grabbed it and shook it around until it died from whiplash. The egg might also be a good snack, so he grabbed it in his claws while he held the rodent in his maw and hurried back to the den.

Rip watched anxtiously. She was neverous staying in the cave, so she moved the chicks into a nearby bush and watched.

Soro returned, and placed the rodent down, the chicks were quick to hurry to the carcass and began eating. "And this egg, we'll have to share for now." Soro said, dropping it on the ground.

A little animal opened her eyes to see nothing. Kicking around, she opened a hole that revealed light. She starting to quietly chirp.

Rip couldn't really believe her eyes. It was an egg just the size and color of a velociraptor egg. She sniffed it care fully. "This isn't food, it's a raptor egg!"

Soro stared. "My bad." He said and looked into the little hole, his slitted, amber eye something that must've scared the chick inside half to death.

"Well, I don't know who it's parents are," said Rip, "but I suppose i could care for it." In the wild, its usually take care of only your own genes. Rip was unusual in the fact that she was more accepting.

Soro nodded. It couldn't replace their lost chick that had been trampled, but it was a start. He began to try and gently break the shell.

The little raptor managed to break out, revealing her unusual red body. She opened her blue eyes and saw a male raptor looking at her. She chirped.

Soro blinked. "This is the weirdest raptor I've ever seen." He said. Instead of the normal dull colored feathers females had, this one's downy feathers were bright red.

Rip sniffed the raptor carefully. She definatly didn't know it's parents. "It is odd. Even if it were male the feathers would be white at this age,"
