Scuttle rushed up a tree, sniffing around. The only other recent scents were fox, mouse, and herself. And snake. Ew! She got the smell on her fur. Scuttle wrinkled her nose in disgust, then rushed to jump off of this tree to another. "So, Sand," she said aloud, trying to spot the mouse, "Too bad about your home. Watcha gonna do now?"

"Well, I've got a kind of strange friend of mine..." Sand began. "I saved her life once, soshe said she would repay me somehow. She's a cat called Iris. She could scare the snake out of the hole- and don't worry, I'll tell her you're my friend."

Skyeler awoke. It was the middle of the day and she couldn't sleep. She had tried everything. Instead of trying again, she just went out to hunt. She searched the forest and only found a squirrel. She landed in a branch and watched it a minute. She was more silent then air. She was waiting until the right moment to strike. (Mind if the squirrel is you, Mindy? If so, I'll make it NCP.)

((Nope, don't mind at all!))

A cat? Wow! What a quest. Scuttle was a bit wary, but mostly excited at the prospect of meeting a predator that probably wouldn't eat her. Unless it... legasp... broke its promise! Adventure! "Great! An adventure...!" Scuttle's black fur rose at the thought. Ah, the danger... she glanced around her, getting into the urgent mood, and yelped. "OWL!!!!" she shrieked while diving off the branch to try to huddle to the base of the branch of another tree, where she might be able to manuever around a trunk and hide herself in the leaves.

Skyeler dove at it. "Get back here!!" she screeched. She circled the tree, knowing the squirrel didn't leave it. "Where are you?!" she screeched and dove into the leaves at a glance of black fur.

Scuttle clenched her teeth as the rustle of leaves against feathers crashed near her, and she jumped up to a branch above her, knowing that the owl would probably have to fly down now that it was in the net of branches. A talon caught on her back slightly, and though she didn't feel blood, it might bleed later. She stayed still best she could, determined not to let the owl find her. An owl's best weapon was surprise, afterall, and that was lost.

Skyeler flew to the ground, then back up. she landed on a branch, and started checking every one.

Nova's eyes narrowed at the scene in the leaves. She gave a humorless laugh and clucked her toung. "Tsk, tsk.... Lose something, Owl?"
She asked in a silky voice and sat at the base of the tree, watching the owl's sad attempts in gettting into the tangle of branches, twigs and leaves.

"Yeah, my mid-day snack!" she snapped. This was not her best day. She kept trying to find the squirrel through the branches.

She snorted and stretched her limbs. "You waste your time and energy on a snack? Yeesh." With pupil-less narrowed eyes, she quickly jumped to a lower branch and sprawled out. "Nch. need help, Bird?"

"Wasting energy is good in the middle of the day, more sleep." she said, as she continued looking. She watched as the wolf jumped up, then dove at it, attempting to push it off. "No, I don't!" she said annoyed, yet determined.

The owl was seriously up in the tree? Wow. Scuttle smiled, certain of her safety now, but here came the tricky part. She had to get away. The movement of the branch would attract attention, and her dark fur would surely be spotted, but she was counting on the owl not being able to smoothly manuever through the branches to get to her in order for her escape. Wasn't as if it was a miniature owl, afterall. Barn owl. Huge wingspan. She could do this.

After silently calming her nerves, she readied herself, then unfroze, running across her branch and leaping to another tree. Faster, faster! she thought, clenching her teeth as she gripped the branch, running across that one, dodging twigs and going at a speed in the mesh that only a very frightened, very small animal could accomplish.
