Java hates me

Post by Slueth »

Hello, WEO!
You may not remember me, but I used to play a lot a couple years ago.
Why did I stop? I got a new computer. And it refuses to let me play.
I have no clue what is wrong, this is what happens:

Image

I have reinstalled java multiple times.
Yes, I did 'turn it off and back on again.'
Yes, WEO is allowed to run in the Java configurtation.
Please help, I have no clue what's wrong with it.
Everything else that runs java works fine.

Sometimes you have to right click on the object in the middle and run the plugin.

When I test that link, I have to manually click run this plugin.
But once I run it, it turns white and nothing appears.
Same happens with WEO now. Before it didn't have the 'run this plugin' Option,
so that's good, but it just turns white and still won't play.

I'm using Google Chrome
I'm using a Toshiba laptop
When you say operating system, what do you mean?
I'm good with the internet, not computers themselves.
There are stickers on my laptop that say:
AMD Turion X2 64
ATI Radeon Graphics
LabelFlash
Windows Vista

Does that help?

Yes,
You computer is a Toshiba
Operating system is Vista
Browser is Chrome

Can you try using Internet Explorer for this?
Try the test link that tests if Java works (see above posts).

Still doesn't work. The screen is white, except now there is a little red x in the
top left corner. Clicking it does nothing, right-clicking it does nothing.
Whatever, I might be getting a new computer soon anyways. if I do, hopefully
WEO will work on it.
Thanks for trying to help though!

Here is the latest for enabling Java to run in your browser:

http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml

How do I enable Java in my web browser?

This article applies to:
Platform(s): Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Macintosh OS X
SYMPTOMS

Even after installing Java, Applets do not run.

CAUSE

Java is not enabled in the web browser. If Java is already installed but applets do not work, you need to enable Java through your web browser.

SOLUTION

If you recently installed Java, you may need to restart your browser (close all browser windows and re-open), in order for the browser to recognize the installation. In addition, make sure Java content in the browser is enabled through the Java Control Panel.

Follow these instructions to enable Java though your Web browser.
http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_panel.xml

Browsers for Windows

Internet Explorer
Click Tools and then Internet Options
Select the Security tab, and select the Custom Level button
Scroll down to Scripting of Java applets
Make sure the Enable radio button is checked
Click OK to save your preference

Chrome
Enter about:plugins in the search field.
In the Plug-ins list, look for Java and check whether Java is enabled (if the Disable link appears, Java is already enabled)
Click on the Enable link (if available)
(Optional) Check the Always allowed box to stop additional Chrome warnings when running Java content
Browsers for Windows and Mac OS X

Firefox
Open the Firefox browser or restart it, if it is already running
From the Firefox menu, select Tools, then click the Add-ons option
In the Add-ons Manager window, select Plugins
Click Java (TM) Platform plugin (Windows) or Java Applet Plug-in (Mac OS X) to select it
Check that the option selected is Ask to Activate or Always Activate or on older Firefox versions, click on the Enable button (if the button says Disable, Java is already enabled)

Safari
Click on Safari and select Preferences
Choose the Security option
Select Allow Plug-ins, then click on Manage Website Settings
Click on the Java item, select an option (Ask, Allow or Allow Always) from the pulldown list When visiting other websites
Click Done, then close the Safari Preferences window

Opera 4.x and Up
Opera for Windows does not use Java, but an embedded version already inside the Opera Web browser.
Opera for other platforms may supports Java . Please consult your Opera platform documentation.
For further information, please review the following Opera Support article:

Okay! I have a new computer!

...And as such I have new problems.
It runs java perfectly fine. But for some reason it won't run WEO.
It says there is a problem with the applet.

Please try this:

Uninstall the version of Java that is on your computer.
Then install this version and try again:

Done. Says the same exact thing. I don't understand
why it never works for me. I'm on a completely different computer
that java runs perfectly fine on, it's updated, all security
systems are working fine and bypassed for WEO specifically.
It has no virus, I am completely and absolutely baffled.
