Well make sure you set it up at least a month before adding fish [but add a few trumpet snails], unless you give it a bacterial boost.

If you do get fish do not get guppys. If you do get them keep males and females in seperate tanks. My moms friend did that and it worked.
We did not do that. We ended up with endless random babies. The tank became overpopulated. So we gave them away. Some went one of our neighbors, the rest went to another neighboor.
guppies multiply very fast!

I love guppies lol. I've got a bunch.
Then again, I can always feed guppy fry to my paradise fish, as morbid as that sounds. It's good for his health if he gets live food once in a while, and a guppy tank is more convenient and prettier to keep than a worm culture (and worms have a higher fat content),and easier than a shrimp culture.

I used to have a dark blue one with a like 2inch flowing tailfin. it was weird yet bootiful. I named her blueberry wave. (I was 10 shuddup)
