Digging up live animals?
I was trying to dig a hole but I dug out LIVE ANIMALS (two mice and a gecko) after digging in the spot for a while. Does this happen a lot?

More information? Was there already a hole on that square?
Live animals are not supposed to randomly spawn when you dig.

I don't really understand the situation. Is it a possibility (at all) that the mice and gecko may have been in squares nearby you and moved to your square while you were digging around?
I've never heard anything about digging living creatures from the ground.

I've dug up baby mice when I was a fox digging a hole in the same square as a burrow. Maybe that's what happened with you?
Re: Digging up live animals?
There weren't any near me and there were no holes in the ground.

That's peculiar... Possibly a glitch that makes one hole a few squares away's animals inside appeared there, or as Shadow said, their hole probably collapsed as they were in when NPC parents were out 'looking for food,' and you dug them up, freeing them? It's never hapened to me, but I'll be on the lookout to see...
