How do they get like that?

They're a breed of dragon. In this case, a "pillow dragon."
You can typically figure out what egg will grow into what dragon by the egg's description - and appearance. Although a few eggs share the same description.

"Electric sparks dance across the surface of this egg." will get you an electric dragon - not to be confused with a thunder.
"This egg has a velvety texture." is a pillow dragon.
"This egg has strange markings on it" could result in an ochredrake, skywing, or horse dragon, best figured out by the appearance of the egg, but if it's from the cave then you won't know until after you pick it up.

A dragon... doesn't have a BSA... I would say they're a bit uncommon, but not terribly so. Perhaps borderline.

Yeah, I saw that too but since someone was disappointed somebody else took the egg in the last forum I thought it meant they were rare ._.
