Honestly, a child doesn't care if what they are eating is 'good' or not. If it tastes good, then who cares? Half the food we eat isn't good for us, and we eat it anyways... As one of the commenters said, carnivor animals will eat rotten food- because they are hungry.
Plus, I doubt they even stop to think 'this is bad for me'. They just... eat it.

I've actually watched my parents butcher a chicken. It wasn't very pretty. >.>

Oh, really? o: We have like... 40+ chickens. Lately, they've been starting to die off(Most of them we got 5-7 years ago, so I guess they've finally reached their age limit..) so we're supposed to be getting a dozen or so chicks within the week. Raising them from babies is pretty fun, but they don't imprint on you very much unless you personally hatch them out.

It's adorable when the chicks imprint on you... I remember that once, before we had a proper pen for the chickens(plus we only had like, 10 at the time) we had a female hen incubate a bunch of eggs. Sadly, she abonded the nest(It was during some land clearing, and I guess the noise scared her off) and a few days later I convinced my mom to try and incubate some. She thought that they wouldn't hatch, since the eggs had been left out on their own for a few days and in the rain, so she only agreed to 2 eggs to make me happy.
20 some days later she found 2 black, fuzzy creatures in the incubator. We raised the two of them to adulthood and they wouldn't sleep without us(Jewel imprinted on me, Jade on my mother) so we had little purse things that wrapped around your waist so we could carry them around in those. Once they grew up, they still acted like we were their parents and constantly perched on our backs whenever they could.

They can be adorable.
But having chicks to raise as your own? They are VERY messy.. they poop like, every 3 minutes. o_o Just the 2 who imprinted on me and my mom made it somewhat easy(we just had like, 5 inches worth of newspaper under their cage. -.-) but then later we got the idea of having a dozen chicks.

With 12 chicks who pooped every 3 minutes.
I couldn't even go into my room without gagging, because they smelled so bad. ;-; We didn't have them in the house for very long until we made their outside nursery, and my room was empty for a week before I went back to sleeping in it.

I have two preety pet budgies. There my sweet little girls. they arnt hand tamed yet... but Im working on it.

Heh, we have chickens and ducks. We DID have some geese, but... let's just say that the males were very, VERY large compared to a female chicken and they... kinda started injuring our hens. In a not-so-pleasant way. .-. We gave them back to their old owner soon after.
Other than birds, we recently lost 2 of our dogs so now we have the three dachshunds and white lab. Then of course our two cats.
