Nox woke up sleepily in her tree hallow. Her legs were stiff from the rain that drenched the forest. This area was called by the animals Crow Woods, because here was where Nox and her many children lived. A son of hers, Scrap, hopped into the hallow with a small mouse.
"G'morning Mother," he greeted her.
"Good morning, my sweet. What have you got for Mother Nox today?"
"Deer mouse, your favorite,"
"Thankyou, dear, you can just leave it here," she told her son. Later, a daughter came in and cleaned the nest. Mother Nox was then left alone, except when excitable grand-chicks came to visit.
