Sand sniffed the air. She couldn't smell anything. She perked her ears. Nothing. She put her ear to the ground. Nothing. Deciding it was safe to go out for food, she scuttled out of her hole in search of seeds, or anything she could find. While she was happily munching away at some tasty meal, she didn't notice the red fox stalking her. When she suddenly felt a huge weight on her back, she knew that either she would die or be injured and alive. She managed to bite the foxes paw and scuttle away to her den, with only a few minor injuries.

History: Her first home was cut down, and every-squirrel scattered.

A black shadow darted across the treetops, nimbly like an acrobat, daring, brave! That is, for a short while. Scuttle suddenly froze, clinging to a very thin, bouncy twig under her. What if she fell? What if she fell! Better be smart than dead. Losing nerve, she dropped down the canopy to the lower branches below. There. Much safer. Scuttle smiled, and jumped, nearly falling, and her claws gripped the bark, tail puffed out on end. She craned her head over to observe what had startled her. A fox had pounced on a mouse. She knew where the mouse went. Kinda. The fox didn't. Good. Mouse was safe. Maybe she'd visit him/her later. Sitting on her hind legs, she surveyed the forest from her branch. Above her was the canopy. Hmm... very interesting that bird. Better not get any ideas. Scuttle would have to find a place for the night. Maybe that mouse would let her in, if worst came to be, though she would much rather keep all paws high off the ground, thanks very much! Scuttle continued looking around, sniffing, legs stiff, itching to be on the go.

Sand sniffed the air, smelling a squirrel. She scuttled out of her burrow and walked up to it.
"Hi there..." she greeted shyly. ((This is a short, not very detailed post...))

((Don't worry about it! I like short, as long as I can respond.))

Scuttle looked down at the mouse below her. She rested her forepaws on her legs while she leaned over. "Hiya!" she said jovially.
"Close call, that was there, wasn't it?" Scuttle was referring to the fox almost eating the mouse earlier.

"Umm, yeah." Sand replied. "You must be hungry. I've got some food in my burrow, want to go in it?" she asked, flicking her ear to the hole nearby.

"Sure, sure! Be down in a sec or two." Scuttle scurried to to trunk, then shimmied faceforward down to the base of the tree. Grasping the bark firmly, her head darted both ways before she jumped off, trotting up next to the mouse. Her paws were itching to get going in a heartbeat, but manners dictated that the host goes first. Probably. It was the mouse's home, after all.

Sand scuttled in and flicked her tail to the squirrel.
"What are you waiting for? Some hungry fox to come and eat you for lunch?" she teased.

Flame

Flame looked over at his herd, breathing in the fresh, leafy scent. He paused to graze, but then noticed another male was approaching him, wanting to fight. He accepted the challenge, and easily beated him by hurting him with his antlers. ((This post about Flame is soooo boring.))

Quickly, she darted into the burrow. "That'd be horrible!" she exclaimed in a hushed tone. Then Scuttle smiled. After glancing behind her and brushing a few leaves over the entrance with her tail, of course. "I'm Scuttle. What's your name?"
