Karaku grunted back, and finished off the rest of the meat. She lay very still for several minutes before deciding to make a friendly gesture to the younger leopard. Karaku licked a paw, and decided to look for a resting place. She found the caves, and some of them were occupied. In the end, she decided to find a suitable, strong tree and leaped up onto it's thickest branch. Here it felt safe, and so Karaku closed her eyes to welcome a quick nap.
She is back in the forest, with her two cubs. Karaku is two years old. Her mate is dead. The cubs are extremely hungry and thin. The Furlesses had felled the trees and the prey had ran away. Karaku licks her cubs feebly. She must hunt. Karaku leads her cubs into the lonely forest, out of the den. She lifts her nose, and smells a hungry roe deer. Karaku is eager, she stalks it. Her cubs fall behind, frightened. They sit and watch, and wait. Karaku is nearly apon the roe deer. She smells the worms of sickness, eating away into the roe deer's marrow. She creeps a little closer, until she is in range of striking...
Karaku is back in the pen. She frowns with disappointment. But here, there were no hungry cubs to feed, no sickness or hunger to worry about. Karaku feels concerned for her cubs. She doesn't know where they are now, but she hopes they are safe. The cubs should be three years old now, if they had survived starvation and sickness. Karaku lays still, watching below from her branch.

The male leopard's ears rose to the sound of Arabi's growl. Cledwyn picked up his head, his jaw filled with fresh blood as he gazed around the scenery. He eyed the new female for a second, scanning her but keeping his looks clean and monotone as he carefully picked up a long bone to gnaw on. He huffed, minding his own business. He preferred to stay quiet unless confronted, unless he really did value one of them. Keeping the bone held, Cledwyn slowly got up and stretched as much as he could, then paced quitely toward a cave. He set down the bone somewhere deep inside the cave, then went back out to take a small dip in the pond. He carefully walked close to the pond, then, when close enough, he lay down with the water just barely up his to his belly, letting himself rest there as he playfully kept a frog held under his paw and keeping it closer to him when it got too far away.

When Arabi was sure there was no meat left, she kicked the bones away; she only chewed them when she had toothache. She watched Cledwyn torment a frog, "Never get's old that game does it? I'm suprised the poor thing hasn't died of a heart attack, the amount of times that's happened to it!" she laughed, "Of course I always feel extremely guilty afterwards and leaveit be but then end up doing the whole thing again after!" she stood and stretched, her strong shoulders rolling as she wriggled. She sat at the edge of the pond and patted at the colourful fish who continually came to the surface, gobbling at scraps of meat that had fallen in.

"It sure doesn't get old. It keeps time going by when there really isn't anything to do. We have everything set up for ourselves by the humans, which pretty much leaves us nothing to do but to keep ourselves occupied. Have you ever tried frog before?" Cledwyn curiously pawed after the frog, it courageously jumped away from the leopard, making the male leap after it and nearly kill it with his own weight. He tilted his head in confusion while looking down to sight the frog, it already frantically hopping back to the pond for safety. The male shook himself free of most of the water soaked in his coat, as a lot of it splashed over him as he leapt after the frog. The leopard frowned and sat down at the edge of the pond, feeling bad for the poor thing.

"Trust me, he's an aqquired taste!" she laughed, rolling onto her back, paws up in the air, "Many a leopard have got him in their mouth and spat him right back out again! Don't know about the others though, I guess after trying him they didn't want to risk it on the other ones either!"

Karaku watched the two leopards from amongst the trees. She remember being a cub, but it wasn't always so care-free. Hunger threatened her family every day. But when there wasn't much to worry about, Karaku liked to play hide-and-pounce with her siblings. She liked the water too, the way it shimmered beneath the sun. She sighed, leapt down form her tree, and padded towards them. Karaku sat down and kept her distance, and she looked into the water, rested her head on her paws and thought of her cubs. She remembered her dead mate. He was perfect in everyway. His eyes shone, and he always took great care of Karaku. It was a shame he didn't live to see the day when the cubs left the den. It was a shame he wasn't here right now. Karaku needed someone she could trust completely, someone to share the early days with. But there was no one here to share it with, just complete strangers who had no idea what it was like to be in Karaku's paws. Only her mate had shared the early days with her, and Karaku had met him when she was a yearling. Of course, it was brief, and they parted. But they came across eachother again, both seeking a mate. Karaku didn't want to speak his name, as it may disturb his spirit. She missed him all the same. Her eyes narrowed with longing, and she scored the surface of the water with a claw, disturbing her miserable reflection.

"I expected the little guy to taste pretty bad, good thing I didn't even try a nibble." He felt a bit more open, strangely. It seemed as if this environment kept away all things necessary to keep him so self contained and all things to himself. There was no more survival here, just live and have an easy life. He would never keep his survival instincts away, but he felt that there was no more need to be completely about survival. Cledwyn carefully brought his attention toward Karaku, giving a pleasant greeting with his handsome smile, not at all minding her appearance. He may as well have a small halo on his head, and swiftly kicked up some water at Arabi playfully, feeling a bit like a kit again, but was worth it.

(Oh, it's always me having to catch-up :D)

At last, Olivia came with a chunk of roe deer and threw it into the tall grass. Winter pounded after it and snatched it with her long canines. She carried it back to the cave and ate silently. After her meal she curled up in the warm straw and slowly fell asleep. She was quite aware of her vet appointment tomorrow.

Arabi made a soft purring sort of noise to Karaku, showing that she was welcome to join them. She hissed in suprise when water suddenly splashed her, her grey eyes wide. They narrowed as she looked back at Cledwyn, then became mischevious and playful; she was unable to resist a game! With a playful growl she splashed back, then took a running jump into the pond, hoping to give him a good splash when she hit the surface.

Cledwyn couldn't help but to laugh playfully at Arabi's surprised expression, only to realize the sudden revenge as when she jumped into the pond, the male's whole coat became soaked in water and a rush of cold chilled him a little in the night. He laughed and tried to shake off as much water as he could, his eyes squinting and his fur held close against his skin. The male charged into the water, attempting to make a nice wave-like splash back at Arabi, making his charming fur soaked and hopefully as well as hers. The large splashes seemed to have given the humans a bit of interest, as they peeked through the see-through like material to watch them play.

Karaku couldn't help grinning at the playfulness of the two. Rising to her paws, she strolled over, and watched as the frightened frogs leaped around crazily. One of them landed on her nose, and she pawed it off. Karaku brushed off the frogs that got caught in her fur, and batted the rest away. Feeling the sun heat up her fur, she gracefully slid inside the pond, and swam in circles. The frogs were leaping everywhere, so she occasional rolled in the water to wash them off. Karaku pushed away the old memories and let the water wash them away.

A sudden wave hit her face with great force, she shook her hed, eyes closed, so she could see again. She then submerged herself under water, swimming close to the bottom for about ten seconds; hoping to make him wonder where she was. She then made sure she was behind him and used her strong back legs to push her powerfully out of the water and into the air, hoping to land on or next to him and duck him.

Karaku stifled a grin, she knew that trick. Slowly she leapt out of the water and shook her fur. Water flew out of her pelt, and she lay down to let the sun dry her damp fur. Her head tilted and raised up towards the sun, Karaku closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment. She could almost hear her cubs, squealing and yelping in delight as they played while Karaku lazed beneath the sun. She felt a small paw on her flank, and purred, opening her eyes, only to see that it was a confused frog, and that there were no cubs, just the delighted cries of Furlesses as they watched the two younger leopards. Clawing the frog off, she sighed, and lay her head on her paws. Whatever she did, it always reminded her of her cubs and mate. She missed them more than she thought she would.
