Changing Forests
The world’s 9.9 billion acres of forest absorb roughly a quarter of human emissions of carbon dioxide, and help limit the increase of the gas in the atmosphere. While many healthy forests are robustly absorbing carbon, others are threatened by a warming climate.
They have a really cool interactive map.

Re: World’s 9.9 billion acres of forest absorb a 1/4 of CO2
Wow...
I thought that South America's forest was much smaller than that because of the slash and burning/farming going on over there. Last year during my World Geography class, we watched a whole video about South America and about their struggles with farming and creating more land, especially Brazil.
I'm glad the forest wasn't smaller than I thought.
I love how the map shows parts of the forest that has recently been lost and the estimated ancient forests 8,000 years ago.
This is a great article.
