Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
Okay :3
So update:
I observed a fire ant nest:
They lay eggs.
And you cannot incarnate as a baby. It doesn't say you don't have enough points, just that you cannot incarnate as one.
They say Mommy xD

Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
Okay, here's what I found:
Babies can be carried.
Babies can attack.
Babies can poison.
Parents put straw in the hole.
There is no nest.
Once babies die, they look like normal dead fire ants.

Animals take back what they can eat. Meaning, the Fire Ants eat tall grass.

I don''t agree. I have no idea why they take straw, but they never eat it. They eat other incsects and seeds.

Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
They don't eat the straw. It's like how foxes can eat tall grass- the parents "Take" the tall grass, but the taken form is straw... Foxes eat tall grass, but cannot eat straw.

How do you know whether they eat grass or not?

Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
... Because I've played a fox, and you can eat tall grass. .-. And I used what logic/evidence there is, pretending that the Ants are Foxes- Fox parents bring back straw because they eat tall grass. Ants bring back straw, so therefor they too eat tall grass.

What makes you think thats why they bring back straw? I think its for the nest.

Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
... NPC Parents don't have the AI to add stuff to the nest. Also, the factsheet and observation has said they don't use/need nests. NPC parents do have the AI to bring back anything edible that they themselves can eat, which further proves that they 'took' tall grass because it is a food source.

I saw that as a debate(love debates..), but okay.
Has anyone seen what the eggs actually look like? As in... do they look round, or oval? And are they small, or the same size as bluebird/cardinal eggs are when they are in a small burrow?

If it were for the nest then I'm sure the straw would only be in the square where the nest is, to be honest. It is a more convincing thought that when an NPC eats something, such as meat, it also picks up the meat from that animal. Therefore when it eats tall grass, which it can in fact eat, they "pick up" from the tall grass, so they pick up Straw which is what you always get from tall grass, and drop it in the den as if it were meat.Grep42 wrote:What makes you think thats why they bring back straw? They do bring back straw, as I have observed a hole. But they do not have a nest.NatureHeart wrote:Okay, here's what I found:

Yes, they do :3 I was lucky enough to see the eggs, and there are normally a lot, but what I found that was interesting is that only the alpha female can mate- which would mean ONE litter, but the litter I find never has more than 10. YET, when I check the fire ants, at least 30+ more babies have been born. So I'm trying to figure that out xD And nice debate guys, but whenever I go into a hole, there is no nest at all, but still a bit of straw. (< Haha, I rhymed )

Re: Project Waterfall Cave .x.x. Project Fire Ant
Also, I discovered (or reinforced my suspicion), that fire ants can climb trees and go into any sized hole. But not once have I seen them in Condor caves or up on the slopes of the mountains when I was a mountain goat.
