[POPULAR]

Bat
Image
Lives in caves and comes out at night to hunt, it would be fun if the whole screen was dark and whenever you made a screech, something would come back to you from a few squares away. Lives in big herds. Bats have one, rarely two babies. No nesting is needed. Echolocation for insectivore bats, Vampire option for bats whom drink blood of animals at night, and fruit bats can find and eat fruits in the map. They cannot land.

Eagle
Image
The symbol of the United States. They hunt fish down well and are very big birds. Larger and stronger than a hawk.

Great Horned Owl
Image
Catches mice easier.

Raccoon
Image
These unique and rather cute animals are very adaptable for feeding. They can eat fish, stolen eggs, mice, insects, and garbage. They sometimes wash their food by rapidly dunking it into the water before eating it. They are nocturnal animals that have lightning-quick reactions to snatch up fish in the water. They also pluck mice and insects from their hiding places. Raccoons also raid nests. They are also able to eat fruit and plants. Mating season is late January to mid March. If kits are lost early, the female may become firtile 80-140 days later. Gestation is 63-65 days and the average litter is 2-5 kits. Wild raccoons live up to 2-3 years, while captive ones live up to 20. It is not unusual to find only half the litter surviving a year.

‣‣‣‣‣

Grey Squirrel
[x]
Stores nuts in a tree for winter. Squirrels can also steal eggs from a bird's nest. Climbs trees to nest and can eat eggs (not chicks).

Norway Rat
[x]
Larger, stronger, more health than a mouse. Can eat anything except insects. Nesting place could be the small hole. Mating seasons are all seasons as rats can frequently breed. Can live in groups.

Woodpecker
[x]
Woodpeckers peck holes into trees, causing rather a rather annoying sound. The woodpecker above is in fact the largest of North America. It digs rectangular holes to get ants. Sometimes excavations are so deep that they can cause a small tree to break in half.

Beaver
[x]
Most of the beaver's diet is bark and cambium. Cambium is the soft tissue that grows under the bark of the tree. Mating season runs around January and March in the cold regions, late November to December in the south. Gestation is 3 months. Babies are weaned within 2 weeks and stay with their parents for 2 years. The estimated life cycle of a beaver is 20 years. They also build dams by the river.

Tortoise
[x]
Hides inside its shell for extra protection from predators, could either be harder to hit or just have more health while inside.

Alligator Snapping Turtle
[x]
A prehistoric-looking turtle that is the largest freshwater turtle in the world. Found in rivers, canals, and lakes of Southeastern United States. Life Cycle is 50-100 years old. They spend a lot of time in the water, exception is the female going inland to nest. They can submerge for 40-50 before surfacing for air. It catches its prey by staying motionless and having it's mouth open. Inside its mouth is a juicy red looking worm, where a curious fish or even frog could come about close enough for the turtle snatch it.

Fire Ant
[x]
They are rarely ever hit since they are so small, maybe even dig some ant hills, which could become time consuming. They make ant hills in open areas. Feeds on small plants, seeds, and sometimes crickets. Sometimes they even get together to kill a small animal, gripping the animal and stinging from their abdomen, injecting a dangerous toxin. The Queen usually live up to 6-7 years, producing 1,500 each day. Males and drones have the only purpose of mating with the Queen. Their life cycle is 3 days. Females are sterile workers that feed all the young and adult ants. They also build up the colony.

Fish
[x]
Can lay up to maybe 25 eggs, but only a few survive when matured.

Grey Fox
[x]
Can climb up trees.

Spider
[x]
Makes webs to trap insects, maybe a web could get all over your face if you're not careful.

Scorpion
[x]
Lives in the desert and stings their prey or predator if attacked or feels threatened. When babies are born they travel on the mother's back. It blocks its burrows when moulting or bearing young, along with whether conditions.

Raven
[x]
The annoying yet common raven. Picks out the eyes of animals such as elk, foxes, and hares. Their cousins are the crows.

Gila Monster
[x]
One of two venomous lizards. Spends a lot of time underground, stores much more energy than other lizards and has a pretty long life span.

Butterfly
[x]
Starts out as a caterpillar, can eat the leaves on the trees, makes a cocoon. Maybe has a chance of falling off the tree? Pollinates flowers and drinks the nectar.

Frog
[x]
Starts out as a tadpole in the river. Matured frogs eat bugs.

Kingfisher
[x]
Expertise is to catch fish.

Bee
[x]
Builds a hive. The queen makes plenty of babies while the worker bees come out to gather the honey. Maybe there could be more than one bee to play so that if you sting a predator, a part of your health dies down. Only bad things are that bees don't live long and there's not many flowers.

Hummingbird
[x]
Slurps up the nectar from flowers. Nests are made of plants and spider webs (?).

Cuckoo
[x]
Lays their eggs in another bird's nest, taking the original eggs away, making the parents think the cuckoo bird eggs are their own.

Boar
[x]
Has tusks from it's mouth, big, dangerously powerful, but holds a lot of meat.

Swan
[x]
Digs a small hole, yet just large enough for them to fit into. They build their nests with twigs, grass, a routh(?), and two sticks.

Hedgehog
[x]
Has spines that can hurt the predator that is attacking.

Vole/Fieldmouse
[x]
Can dig a hole almost everywhere. Eats roots, fruit on the ground, and berries.

Falcon
[x]
Smaller but faster than a hawk.

Tree Sparrow
[x]
Like bluebirds but different and unique designs.

Mole
[x]
Digs complex hole systems.

Prairie Dog
[x]
Prairie Dogs live in a vast complicated system of holes underground. These holes lead to chambers such as stored food and a secret way out just in case of predators or floods. Whenever there is a predator about, a prairie dog will make a high-pitched bark as a warning to those nearby. These animals have one of the best communication skills.

Killdeer
[x]
This bird builds its nest on the rocky floor where their eggs are blended in. It's usually some sort of shallow bowl-shaped area on the ground. Once the young come out of its shell, it's ready to walk. If there is a predator nearby, a parent will pretend that their wing is broken and limp away from the scene, hoping that the predator will be lured with it. Once far enough the parent will fly off, thus keeping not only itself safe, but its children too. For the killdeer there could be an button to make the bird look weak, luring the predator away for a few squares or so until it will fly off.

Lance-Tailed Manakin
[x]
Instead of fighting over females, pairs of male lance-tailed manakins team up to court prospective mates. Two males dance together for interested females, using tightly synchronized 'leapfrog' and flight displays to impress the opposite sex. But when the dance is over, only the dominant male, the alpha, gets the chance to mate.

Trap-Door Spider
[x]
These spiders dig long burrows underground that is lined with silk that they spin. The upper surface of the door is usually covered around by dirt or gravel, disguising the entrance. The holes in the United States are usually 2.1 cm in diameter and 30cm in length. The spiders usually go for ants and other insects. The species located in the southern united states is classified as Bothriocyrtum californicum.

Ermine
[x]
They eat small mammals (like mice, squirrels, rabbits, and hares), birds, insects, carrion (dead meat that they find), and berries. They are ferocious hunters and find their prey with their keen sense of smell. Weasels are preyed upon by owls and martens.

Ring-Necked Pheasant
[x]
Introduced to the United States in the 1800s. The male protects his territory with his harem against many aggressive rivals. This could lead to vicious battles. The birds prefer fields and farmlands with brushy cover, though they also inhabit woodland undergrowth and some wetlands. Females can nest up to a dozen or more eggs. They incubate with no help from the male. The young pheasants are able to fly within 2 weeks, but stay with their mother for 6-7 weeks. Many pheasant eggs are destroyed by predators. The young birds have a high mortality rate. These birds eat grains, seeds, berries, insects, and occasionally small animals. Pheasant flights are merely short-distance dashes for cover. Their life cycle is about 10-20 months, they are also omnivores.

Tufted Titmouse
[x]
These birds can eat caterpillars, beetles, wasps, ants, bees, treehoppers, spiders, and snails. During the winter they also eat acorns and seeds. They often fly in a mixed flock of chickadees and nuthatches. Tufted Titmice are monogamous. Titmice nest in natural cavities and abandoned woodpecker holes. Nest building begins in late March or early April, taking up to 6 to 11 days. The nest consists of leaves, moss, dried grass, and bark strips, and is lined with feathers, fur, wool, cotton, hair, and sometimes snakeskin. The male feeds the female during the nest building until the eggs hatch.

Virginia Oppossum
[x]
These animals are marsupials. Its tail is prehensile. A prehensile tail is adapted for grasping and wrapping around things like tree limbs. The opossum can hang from its tail for a short time. Some people think opossums hang from their tails and sleep. They don't. Their tails aren't strong enough to hold them for that long. The opossum has opposable hallux. A hallux is like a thumb. The opossum's "thumbs" are on its rear feet. The hallux helps it grasp branches when it climbs. The oppossum does not hibernate during winter, but it does hide in a hole often due to the chance of frostbite on its hairless ears, tail, and toes. When threatened, it will exhibit behaviors like running, growling, belching, urinating and even defecating. Sometimes it will "play 'possum." and roll over, become stiff, drool, and its breathing will become slow and shallow. This coma-like state can last up to four hours.

Western Hognose Snake
[x]
(My favorite snake!)
These snakes can be domesticated, but it's hard to change their diet to mice rather than the certain types of frogs they eat. These snakes are poisonous, but their poison is only for frogs. When they try to gulp down their snack, the frog will inflate itself, making it too large for the snake to swallow it whole. This is where the poison comes in. It makes the frog deflate so then the snake can finally have its meal. It is also able to use its shovel-like nose to dig into burrows and find the frogs. They locate prey by smell. As said before, their poison is very mild. It is used from their back teeth so they can puncture the frogs to deflate them. They rarely ever bite for defense, but they do bluff their strikes, as their mouths are closed when they do so. They perform a defensive display by hissing and flattening out the neck, giving the impression of a cobra. If they cannot frighten off an intruder, they will throw up their last meal and roll over on their back, playing dead for up to 5 minutes. During their 'death', they create a horrible smell. Their black belly also gives off the impression that the meat is rotten, so the smell adds to it. It also opens its mouth wide and sticks its tongue out. If you try to make the snake roll over, it'll simply roll back so its belly is towards the sky. They live up to 15-18 years and can lay up to 9 eggs average, but can be as much as 23. These snakes breed around May. Oh, they also eat small rodents, birds, lizards, small snakes, and reptile eggs.

Fisher (Weasel)
[x]
Are able to kill and eat porcupines.

Striped Skunk
[x]
Uses it's rather nasty smelling defense to blind the predator and escape.

North American Porcupine
[x]
Uses its quills as a defense. If an animal attacks, it may hurt the attacker too.

[POPULAR]

Moose
Image
Goes underwater for a short period of time to eat some food. If underwater too long, the moose could start to lose health slowly.

Cougar/Puma
Image
Stalks prey for a better chance to hit them.

Alligator
Image
Doesn't eat often, spends time in the river and on land, maybe has a button called 'Death Roll' or something for much larger prey.

Mustang
Image
Dominant male fights off predators, can live in herds. Only the top ranked stallion may mate.

‣‣‣‣‣

Badger
[x]
Does high damage to smaller prey.

White-Tailed Deer
[x]
Will Challenge and Fight during mating season to gain dominance and mate with the females. (Only top 3 males can mate)

Mule Deer
[x]
Same as White-Tailed Deer but has more health.

Antelope
[x]
Water bar slows.

Bighorn Sheep
[x]
Needs more info (other than being on the challenge and fight buttons).

Dall Sheep
[x]
Can be in the same herd as the Bighorn sheep but can't mate with them.

Rew
[x]
(Need help finding a proper picture because I'm not sure if this one is correct)
Somewhat like a deer but with smaller antlers. They run fast and jump high. Their sound is like a pipe.

Muskoxen
[x]
Strong as a bison, can eat straw, sticks, roots, fruit, and berries. 7 calves for one herd.

Pronghorn Antelope
[x]
They have a strange pronk, also called stotting; a leaping gate.

~~~~~
Food sources:
Moss
Food and nesting material. Rabbits, buffalo, mice, and elk can eat it.
Acorn
Edible to birds, squirrels, mice, and rabbits.
~~~~~

Weather & Hazards:

Thunderstorm
[x]
The screen darkens for a while, every now and then a flash will appear. Rarely would a tree be struck, causing a forest fire.

Forest Fire
[x]
Usually caused by thunderstorms. Fire could slowly spread from tree to tree, causing animals in the forest to rush out to safety. Smoke could cause suffocating if staying nearby too long or while trying to escape.

Flood
[x]
Causing the river to look like a massive pond, could drown some animals, probably small ones. Any animals that didn't escape to higher ground ( up by mountains) would face a watery grave. There would be a light blue meter at the top of the screen that would show how long that the animal could hold it's breath while submerged.

Wind
[x]
If strong enough it could make a tree fall down.

Snowstorm/Blizzard
[x]
Snowstorms would effect only up to 1/2 of the world's map. They can blow out hawk and cardinal nests, and suffocate animals in small holes. Temperature would drop way down, and reptiles would have to go an uneffected hole to warm up. They occur only in winter. Safe places are inside a tree, condor caves, or the desert, wher the snowstorm is less severe and a lot warmer than any other place of the affected area.If an animal is in a hole, snow would start rolling down the sides as an indication to get the heck outta there. Cardinal and hawk parents would have to swiftly relocate their young. Like with Wolfang's suggestions, the mother (and father hopefully) would have five minutes to saftely relocate their young.
Conditions: Like the snow already in WEO, but more noticable and comes down faster and more violently. There would be a whooshing sound, like a violent wind. The temperature would drop drastically.

Tornado
[x]
Tornados could whip either slowly or swiftly through the world during any season, mainly summer. If you are in 1 square diameter from the hurricane/tornado, you run a risk of being swept up. If you survive, in which only advanced animals and hawks and condors MIGHT, you will lose 2/3 health. Unless of course, you had low health to begin with. Condor caves and large holes would be pretty much the only safe place if you wish to hide your young. You don't have to hide, as long as you are well away from the tornado. Tornados can cause serious damage by ripping up trees and undergrowth, even all animal types, although smaller ones more frequently, and maybe closing up small holes with animals inside.
Conditions: Warm air would meet cold air, first of all. And it might help if it was raining. The screen would get slightly dark, like with Wolfang's thuderstorms, with occasional lightning strikes. There would be a semi-high pitched whistling sound. The closer you are to the tornado, the louder it is. The tornado would look like a bunch of neat, circular scribbles, spinning round and round. Parents would have 5 minutes to safelty relocate their young, if they wish, since the tornado might not come to their area. In a hole, the whistling sound would sound muffled, and it would look as if dirt was rolling down the sides, warning the parents. In 5 minutes, the hole would be closed. In a tree, the whistling sound would be heard, but only if the tornado was a threat at that particular moment. Ex. The tornado is near the forest. All the birds in the trees within a 6 square diameter would here the whistling noise inside the tree. If the tornado moves closer, well, you'll keep hearing it. If it moves out of the 6 square diameter, thw whistling would stop. For birds on tree limbs, it would be pretty much the same as Bluebirds inside the tree, except that they will also see rain coming down on the limb. But beware, tornados are unpredictable!

Other Suggestions:

[POPULAR]

Day/night cycle. (Most popular suggestion by far)

Geckos: When predators grab/hit a gecko they can detach their tails to get away. Tail can regenerate next season or after a full season's time (?).

Return of the maned wolf.

Bob Cats: Climbing trees.

Rabies.

For parents: Being able to hear your children being hit by a predator (or have a message saying who did it along with the sound).

Return of the peek option. (Where you're in a hole and you peek to see if there's anything around)

Being able to regurgitate food directly to the hungered baby.

A message saying that your offspring has been killed/hit and by who.

Message log and a whisper option.

Condors are stronger than eagles. Eagles can pick up (maybe)lambs and dogs too, so why can't condors pick up a young bob cat or coyote? (Or even a feather??)

Having a fourth page (You know at the top right where it shows your current animal, your stats, and what selective items you want to see first) called Pedigree.

More land.

Having the ability to bring your mate back into the den when he/she is chased out. Maybe even tell him/her to bring the offspring to a different nest.

Showing the dirt on your animal if too dirty, making you look rather unnatractive to others, especially during mating season.

Vitamin D: Being away from the sun too long might make you weak or sick.

AFK option: Shows that your animal is AFK by it fading just a little.

Traps and garbage from man.

Have an arrow or something to tell you where your pack's howl came from.

Feces: Used as some sort of message to another person.

In summer the river could have a small drought, making it much harder to get the water needed to survive.

In winter the river would freeze, but a few spots will be weak enough so you can open up a crack and drink.

Suggestion for Foxes: Have fox pups sound like dog's pups do.

Fox nests are usually next to or under rocks/trees.

Bigger lake areas for life underwater.

Some sort of bug/animal that eats parasites.

Re-burying holes: World 1 seems to have a constant issue of it having way too many holes. If a hole has no items whatsoever within, it may be burried since it has no further use. It would be very helpful since in some squares there are just about 3 holes in one square and more holes right next to it.

A herd (or group) animal species for basic game.

Your NPC mate should help rebuild or build a nest.

An egg laying feature where the mother lays her eggs and will have to keep them warm and such.

WEO, you HAVE to add an age limit to parasites. Or completely take them away, which would be sad.
Otherwise World 1 is going to become flooded with abondoned holes that won't collapse because of the parasites. And places under a tree that are full of parasites because a nest fell out. And people just keep digging new holes all the time.

I completely agree... I mean, I can't even enter SQUARES AT ALL.

I don't even care if the age limit is 200 or something, but their has to be an age limit... Or something bad will happen. Idk what, but unless there is an age limit parasites will continue to build up under trees and.. well, idk.

Actually, I have found a way to get rid of parasites that are on the grounds, completely get rid of them. Go to the spot with your tree that has bad infestation of parasites. Make a weak nest in the branches during high winds or storm winds. This will cause the nest to be blown out fo the tree and onto the ground. Shake the nest on the ground and all the parasites will go away. Easy! You just have to have the right weather conditions.

But it would be a lot easier if the parasites just expired.

Ya, I agree, because don't parasites die? o.0 Or at least have an easier way to make them go away?

For a suggestion, how about being able to instant kill the thing you're holding if it's alive? It's annoying being a bird, catching a rabbit, dropping it on a cliff, then it doesn't die and you waste time and energy having to pick it up and drop it several more times, where in real life the bird would have just snapped it's neck, or even just eat it alive.

I didn't know a the average eagle could pick up a 25 pound dog, which is less than average for the average sized dog. The average sized bobcat is about 35 pounds, it is possible for the largest condors to pick up a little over 40 pounds. And, the BIGGEST condor, the andean condor, is the condor that you are able to play as. Which probably could pick up about 50 pounds, which could, probably pick up a smaller medium sized dog, Nothing more than a large one. And a large one is avg. ( Dogs are ranked in 5 scales, small, medium, large, xl and xxl. )

Though it would be possible for the andean condor to pick up a bobcat, Nothing more than that. I actually should of checked what condor that was before writing this, because it would of been a lot shorter then it is. :P

But oh well.

I think NPC's should be able to request to mate with you. It would be more realistic, and you would have to follow them to an already built nest, maybe? And maybe using the make a sound button during mating season would increase the chances of an NPC asking to mate with you.

It would be nice for the situation to vary depending on what happens. Say if you're the #1 dominant male fox, I'm sure many females would like to mate with you, however if you were lower dominance say 4/9, not as many females would want to mate with you.
It kind of sucks how when you get a mate and you're building a nest, they don't help you, whether male or female.
