How Long does it takes for eggs to be ready?

Hi, I'v been playing WEO for a long time, but stopped playing it, and now I'm playing it again 
I'm a Bluebird right now, I just made a nest, and have everything ready for mating. It's Summer and that's mating season for Bluebirds in the game, right? So when I tried to mate with a bird, it says that "Eggs aren't ready." So, I was like: okay, it just may take a while.
So I log off, come back a while after and when I try to mate it says the same thing. I've been waiting for a while now and everytime I click on mate it says the same thing. Is there some time that has to pass before eggs are ready?? I don't remember this last time I played.
