So I was playing in world 1 as a king snake, it was fall and I decided to go to world 2 (where it was Winter) in hopes that I could adopt a rabbit litter or two when it was spring. Well, when I was in world 2, apparently I could mate? I checked the user's manual for King Snakes and they're supposed to only mate in Spring and Summer. I moved a bit to see if it would go away, but it wouldn't. I checked a(n?) NPC's profile thing to see if it could mate- it couldn't. I decided to try and mate to see if it would work, and it did. Is this supposed to happen? [sorry if there is already a thread similar to this]

Well YEAH! It is a glitch. This glitch is commonly known as 'The Female Multimating glitch' where you go in a server as an adult, make sure you see the egg on your profile then afterwards, go to a server that you choose.

Indeed. It is very commonly used if you don't want to be in an inactive server.
