Q & A!
If you had an urge to add an animal, and decided to go with it, which animal would you add?
I always look at the suggestion topic and the latest polls in the game discussion area for this. From one recent poll the squirrel had the most votes.
So I would probably go with that choice.
If you could create another world for WEO, where would it be?
This is a tough one because there are a lot of external factors which might impact this choice. However, the top 3 eco worlds would probably be:
Africa
Polar
Reef World
I always look at it from the viewpoint of a developer. Which means I think about it in terms of what would it take to really do the work. Some worlds would be similar in some ways with the current version and this similarity would make it easier to implement. Africa would probably be the easiest fit from a software stand point because of the similarities with the north American eco system but would require all new art.
But in a totally different direction there is fantasy version (in this case fantasy refers to the fantasy genre with wizards and dragons) also with humans that would also be a lot of fun. This would require a lot of new programming and art.
If you could have a 3-D version of WEO made, by people whom you've never met, would you accept it and replace the game?
Yes.
I want to encourage people to learn how to do this sort of thing and be supportive and open to the possibilities.
What is the next 'big' thing that you will be adding to WEO, that is 100% guarenteed to be added?
I can't be 100% sure of an answer because there are external factors that might impact this. And to say something with certainty when there is no certainty would lack integrity on my part (it would feel like telling a lie)
At times I have made some efforts to bring in external financing of the next version. With a larger budget I would do xyz, but with a small budget I would do abc. There are other external factors which can impact what happens. For example I had plans late last year and early this year to work on a prototype (a prototype is just a small effort to explore ideas) of a fantasy version which I mentioned previously. However someone in my family got sick and I had to put that on hold.
Whats in the waterfall hole, and why would it change WEO if it was opened?
A sealed off cave.
There is an ancient fungus in there, if released, would change everything.
Would you ever make a single player version of this game? Like something you could download and open without having to be connected to everyone and playing with others?
It is possible of course, but a little lower on the list than other things we have talked about.
Why do fireants cost so much and why aren't they on the normal list?
The ants weren't meant to be played which is why they cost so much.
What is the max amount of people per world?
Currently set to 125, but could be a higher number if resources allowed.
Why do female condors have 'hump backs'?
I think their backs are actually straight compared to hump backs (see them in flight), but they are bent over which gives them that appearance ( common with vultures )
